After working for years at an NBC affiliate, Karla took a leap of faith and left her career and steady income to pursue her passion for writing and performing her own music. She now performs in venues across Iowa, including coffeehouses, bars, wineries, and community festivals. Karla was commissioned to write music and lyrics that were used by TV stations in Iowa, Tennessee, Louisiana, and Missouri. She has appeared on local television and on public radio KUNI’s concert program Live from Studio One. Lyrics from her song SNAPSHOTS commemorating September 11th were quoted on the front page of the February 21, 2002 issue of the Wall Street Journal.
She’s an active member of the Cedar Valley Acoustic Guitar Association; a local non-profit group of guitarists who support live music and provide performance opportunities for local singer-songwriters.
Karla believes in the power of meaningful lyrics and lingering melodies. She has produced three CDs: Exactly, Hanging By a Thread, and Ordinary Day. Her CD’s are filled with personal observations about life, love, and chances taken or lost. Her music is best described as acoustic folk/pop with just a touch of blues.
Karla’s CDs are available at Barnes & Noble and www.cdbaby.com and you can view her
